Zzzzzzzz

I have always needed a lot of sleep. And I'm a night owl who hits his energy peak around 9-10pm. I naturally gravitate towards 10 hours of sleep per night. Nine hours is okay and 8 is the most I can have without noticing it during the day, but I can only do 8 hours for a few days in a row before I need 11-12.

So grad school is supposed to keep you up all hours. Looking at my work load, I see why. If I don't cut into my sleep hours or my work hours (which I can't, money is VERY tight) then I can only get all my stuff done if I work on school stuff all day, every day, with no days off and almost no fun time.

This is where working out hurts me the most. On the days I work out I feel physically exhausted in the evening. I actually quite like the feeling. But my minimum sleep hours rises to 10. So how do I get that extra school work done?

I'm not worrying about it now, since I'm not sure my legs will allow me to run the marathon. If I reach 5 miles and things are good, then I'll start to worry about how to fit 2-4 hour runs into my schedule.

funny thing...working out actually leaves me needing less sleep. i feel much more energized when i work out, and i sleep much harder. come to think of it, that's probably what allows me less sleep--i actually sleep the night through, soundly and fully instead of tossing on my way to sleep and waking during. i think.

here's hoping your legs play along--better to have a choice than to be restricted to none!
